100+ Dealerships Volunteer As Driven To Read Drop-Off Sites

Oct 13, 2006

The response was phenomenal. More than 100 dealerships have elected to serve as collection points for donated children’s books as part of the inaugural Driven To Read Campaign. The objective of this program, created by Mary Jane Salvato, General Manager at Colonial Motors in Somerville, is to support literacy by providing donated books to various organizations serving underprivileged children and to help promote reading.

The campaign will run from November 1 through December 31, 2006.

Participating dealerships will receive a communication from NJ CAR in the next few days with additional details about the program. The Coalition will promote dealership involvementand post a list of participating dealers on the public side of the NJ CAR website (www.njcar.org). We also encourage participants to draw additional notice to the campaign by designating a vehicle trunk or pickup bed as the collection point for all donated books and talking up the program in their own advertising or by posting signage in their dealerships.

If you have any questions about the Driven To Read Campaign, please contact Brian Hughes, NJCAR’s Director of Communications, at 609.883.5056, ext. 315 or via email at [email protected].
