Charge Up New Jersey is now accepting applications for the Charge Up+ EV incentive!
Income-qualifying* customers can receive a $4,000 incentive for the purchase or lease of a new eligible EV.
Applications may be submitted for vehicles ordered, purchased or leased on or after September 17, 2024.
The Charge Up+ incentive cannot be applied retroactively to a vehicle’s order, purchase or lease date.
*The $2,000 Charge Up incentive is still available for customers who do not meet income requirements.
Customer Eligibility
Customers can qualify for the increased incentive if the modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) from their most recent tax filing meets the following requirements:
- Maximum MAGI of $75,000 for single tax filers
- Maximum MAGI of $112,500 for head of household tax filers
- Maximum MAGI of $150,000 for joint tax filers
OR
They are enrolled in an eligible public assistance program.
Application Process
- Charge Up+ applicants must prequalify on the Charge Up New Jersey website prior to ordering, purchasing or leasing an eligible EV. Dealerships are not responsible for verifying income eligibility.
- The customer will present a prequalification ID to the dealer that will be verified in the Dealer Portal. Only then can the $4,000 incentive be applied at the point-of-sale.
- Dealers will be reimbursed the same as the Charge Up incentive through the Dealer Portal.

NOTE: The Terms and Conditions provide information regarding the requirements of prequalification for Charge Up+. Dealers may require additional acknowledgements from customers beyond what is required in the Terms and Conditions. Dealers may use the example language below if they like:
I acknowledge that I have been informed that Charge Up+ is an additional income-based incentive that must be pre-qualified for prior to order or purchase of a new eligible vehicle. I understand that by submitting an application for a Charge Up incentive, without prequalifying for a Charge Up+ incentive, the Charge Up+ incentive may not be applied to that vehicle transaction and I waive my right to claim additional incentive amounts to which I would otherwise be entitled.
