Al Konner Assumes NJ CAR Chairmanship

Alvin Konner, dealer principal of Konner’s Chevrolet, Inc. in West Caldwell, NewJersey, assumed the NJCAR Chairmanship on November 1, 2008. He succeeds Eric Nielsen. Al is a third generation owner-operator of Konner Chevrolet, which was first established by his grandfather, Jacob, in 1919 and also operated by his father, Mitchell, for 50 years.A 30-year veteran of the retail automotive industry in NewJersey, Al joined the NJCAR Executive Committee in February 2003 as Regional Vice President–Northern Region I. He has since served in the positions of Treasurer, Secretary and Vice Chairman.Al started his career working in the Parts Department of the dealership while in high school and college, where he earned a degree in Business Administration from Rider University. He also attended the General Motors School of Merchandising in Detroit prior to assuming a management role at Konner Chevrolet.Al has also served as a Director of T-Ink, LLC, a technology company based in New York City. He has served as President of the Essex County Auto Trade Association for the past seven years and has been a member of the Caldwell Rotary for 37 years. Al Lives in Livingston, New Jersey.Other Senior Officers for the 2008-2009 Association year are: Vice Chairman Wayne Hileman (Burlington Volkswagen KIA, Burlington), Secretary Michael McGuire (McGuire Chevrolet Cadillac, Newton) and Treasurer William Kundert, Jr. (Kundert Motors, Inc.).
