Thanks, in part, to generally good weather, an extra selling day and a fifth weekend, May auto sales in the United States jumped 11% to 1.6 million vehicles. In fact, the seven largest manufacturers all saw increased sales, four of them by double-digits. The month was so good for auto sales that the seasonally adjusted annual selling rate (SAAR) hit 16.8 million vehicles, the highest monthly number in eight YEARS.
