Average U.S. Fuel Economy 25.5 MPG

Average fuel economy for new vehicles sold in the United States remained above 25 miles per gallon (MPG) for the fifth straight month, according to researchers at the University of Michigan. More aggressive emissions goals set by the EPA in recent years has led to the average fuel economy increasing by approximately 27% since researchers began tracking the numbers in October 2007.
