AChinese auto manufacturer, Guangzhou Automobile Company (GAC), is hoping to begin selling its midsize SUV in the United States by late 2019. They are confident enough in their timeline that they will be at the National Automobile Dealers Association’s (NADA) Convention in March to, presumably, begin recruiting dealers.
If GAC’s plans come to pass, they would become the first Chinese company to sell vehicles in the U.S. Other manufacturers have previously announced they were entering the U.S. market, only to have their plans fall apart before they sold any vehicles.
GAC was founded in 1997 and, initially, produced vehicles through joint ventures with foreign automakers.
