Coronavirus Update #2

Mar 16, 2020

NJ CAR has received several inquiries from its dealer-members regarding the coronavirus outbreak (“COVID-19”) and its impact on their businesses and personnel. Please note that the federal and state governments have created the following informational materials in response to this outbreak:

·    https://www.osha.gov/SLTC/covid-19/

·    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/guidance-business-response.html

·    https://www.eeoc.gov/eeoc/newsroom/wysk/wysk_ada_rehabilitaion_act_coronavirus.cfm

·    https://www.nj.gov/health/cd/topics/covid2019_schoolbusiness.shtml

Also, below please find helpful information published by the law firm of Genova Burns that addresses some thorny employment law issues raised by COVID-19. Specifically, this publication addresses issues arising under the Americans With Disabilities Act, Family And Medical Leave Act, New Jersey’s new Paid Sick Leave Law, and federal and state wage and hour laws.

However, please understand that these materials do not (and cannot) serve as a substitute for obtaining legal counsel to address specific personnel situations caused by this fast-moving outbreak. Accordingly, in response to such situations, NJ CAR recommends that you immediately contact your dealership’s attorney.
