The Consumer wants the “Amazon experience,” the OEM only wants CSI and repeat business and F&I Managers just want to keep their sanity! What can be done to balance this? How can your dealership move to a Digital Finance and Delivery System and what is it?
1:00 PM – 1:45 PM – “New Jersey Lending Compliance,” Anthony Anastasio, Esq., NJ CAR’s Director of Legal & Regulatory Affairs, will review New Jersey’s new GAP waiver law, Sales Tax treatment of different GAP products, the Retail Installment Sales Act’s limitations on financing certain purchases, the Consumer Protection Leasing Act’s disclosure requirements for lease buyouts, changes to New Jersey’s Inspection Warranty, and recent developments regarding the Military Lending Act as they apply to New Jersey.
1:45 PM – 2:30 PM – “Federal Lending Compliance,” David Robertson, President, Association of Finance & Insurance Professionals (AFIP). Presentation will include hot issue updates, reminders and best practices regarding federal lending laws and regulations (i.e. Regulation Z – Truth-in-Lending, Regulation M – Truth-in-Leasing, etc.) to make sure your dealership is compliant. Presentation will be followed by a short Q&A to identify areas of concern for post-session written follow up with attendees.
The Seminar begins at 9:30 AM and ends at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the DoubleTree Hilton (700 Hope Road, Eatontown, NJ 07724- Exit 105 off the Garden State Parkway). The Seminar costs $229 per person (for Dealer Members). Lunch and refreshments are included.

NJ CAR is happy to announce the return of the Coalition’s Dealership Compliance Training & Certification Program to be held at NJ CAR Headquarters on March 15, 16 and 20, 2018.
The NJ CAR Program is the only one of its kind in the country that offers compliance training & certification for each management-level employee in the dealership including: Dealer Principals, General Managers, General Sales Manager, Controllers, Officer Managers, Chief Financial Officers, F&I Managers; Sales Managers, Parts Managers, and Service Managers. Depending on the size of the dealership (small, medium, large/mega), the training may involve anywhere from three to 15+ management employees.
The Coalition’s Compliance training and Certification program uses the NJ CAR Legal & Regulatory Compliance Guides for its course materials. A special feature of this NJ CAR Program allows dealerships to obtain a NJ CAR Dealership Compliance Certification-including a plaque suitable for display purposes-by having all of their management-level employees trained, tested, and certified.
The following is an overview of the areas covered under the NJ CAR Program:
Track 1: General Managers, General Sales Managers, Controllers, Office Managers and CFOs. This one-day Training & Certification Seminar addresses relevant State and federal regulatory topics, including Consumer Protection/Consumer Fraud issues, lending and insurance laws, wage and hour laws, employment issues, the New Jersey Sales Tax, Domestic Security Fee, and Advertising Regulations, Tire Tax, Luxury & Fuel Inefficient Surcharge (LFIS), federal finance regulations, consumer privacy regulations, cash transaction reporting, and OFAC compliance. The training will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 9 AM until 4 PM at NJ CAR Headquarters (856 River Road, Trenton, NJ 08628). Participants who enroll in this session will receive copies of the NJ CAR Legal & Regulatory Compliance Guides at no additional charge (a $130 value). The cost for this training and certification is $795 per person for Dealer Members. Any dealership that has previously purchased the NJ CAR Legal & Regulatory Compliance Guides will receive a $100 credit (one credit for each set of Guides) to be applied towards the course fee for a General Manager, General Sales Manager, Office Manager, Controller, or CFO enrolled.
Track 2: F&I Managers and Sales Managers. This one-day Training & Certification Session will address: State consumer protection/consumer fraud issues, advertising, promotions, New and Used Car Lemon Laws, finance and insurance laws, Retail Order Form issues, consumer privacy regulations, cash transaction reporting, OFAC compliance, and more. The training will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 9 AM to 4 PM at NJ CAR Headquarters (856 River Road, Trenton, NJ 08628). The cost for this training and certification is $595 per person for Dealer Members. Seminar attendees will be provided with selected portions of the NJ CAR Legal & Regulatory Compliance Guides that are applicable to the course topics.
Track 3: Parts & Services Managers. This one-day Training & Certification Session will touch on: the New Jersey auto repair regulations, PIF and ERF licensing issues, body shop licensing (including new car dealer body shop sublet licensing issues), technician wage and hour issues, consumer privacy regulations, selected environmental compliance issues, Community Right-to-Know, Spill Act, and OSHA. Seminar attendees will be provided with selected portions of the NJ CAR Legal & Regulatory Compliance Guides applicable to the course topics. The training will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 9 AM to 4 PM at NJ CAR Headquarters (856 River Road, Trenton, NJ 08628). The cost for this training and certification is $495 per person for Dealer Members.
NJ CAR also offers the option of on-site training and certification for large and mega dealerships. The in house training is a three-day program to train all of the managers in a dealer group. Individuals who successfully complete the NJ CAR Motor Vehicle Title Clerk Certification Program will have a working knowledge of New Jersey Motor Vehicle documents and procedures. Although the course has been designed for New Jersey Title Clerks, the Program is extremely valuable to Office Managers, Controllers, and anyone else who provides support to the Title Clerk position. The course curriculum is based on NJ CAR’s Motor Vehicle Training & Reference Manual. Individuals who attend the entire Program and complete testing receive NJ CAR’s Certification.
NJ CAR will be hosting the Motor Vehicle Title Clerk Training March 21-23, 2018 at NJ CAR Headquarters (856 River Road, Ewing, NJ 08628). The 3-day class will run from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM each day and costs only $449 per person for Dealer Members (and includes a copy of the most recent NJ CAR Motor Vehicle Training & Reference Manual).
