Ed Rossi Named New Jersey’s 2010 TMQDA Winner

NJCAR is proud to announce that Edward J. Rossi, dealer principal of Rossi Chevrolet Buick GMC in Washington, New Jersey, was recently selected as NewJersey’s 2010 TIME Magazine Quality Dealer Award (TMQDA) winner. The TMQDA recognizes new vehicle dealers in the United States for exceptional performance in their dealerships, combined with distinguished community service.Nominations for the TMQDA are submitted by NJCAR members, and a winner is chosen by the NJCAR Awards Nominating Committee made up of the sitting Chairman and all past winners of this prestigious honor. A nominee must be a member of NADA and NJCAR for at least five years. The individual should spend at least 60% of his or her time involved in dealership affairs. Ed Rossi will represent NewJersey in the national competition, which takes place at the NADA Convention in Orlando, Florida in February 2010.Ed Rossi began his automotive career in 1972, working at Tully Chrysler Plymouth, where his father was an investor, during his time off from attending Villanova University. Mid-way through college, he decided he wanted to make automotive retail his career and, with his father’s support, began learning how to operate the dealership. Upon graduation in 1976, he began working full-time in New and Used Car Sales at the renamed Rossi Chrysler Plymouth Dodge, ultimately becoming Dealer Principal in 1982 when the dealership was franchised by GM and renamed Rossi Pontiac Buick GMC.Ed has been a member of NJ CAR for 32 years and served as the Coalition’s Chairman in 1999-2000. He became Chairman of the NJ CAR Insurance Co., Ltd. in 2007, a post he continues to hold. He is also on the Board of Directors at Wholesale Auto Supply Company (WASCO) and has served as Chairman of that organization in both 1995-1996 and 2000-2001.Ed is a four-time GM Mark of Excellence winner and has worked with many organizations to improve the quality of life for everyone in the communities in which he lives and works. He is a former President of the Rotary Club of Washington and a founding member of the Washington Business Improvement District. Ed was a member of the Advisory Board for Abilities of Northwest New Jersey, which coaches individuals with disabilities in order to help them find employment. He was also a past Fundraising Chairman for the Domestic Abuse and Rape Crisis Center. Ed also sponsored a Gift of Life Child through his involvement with Rotary. This Program enables children from third-world countries to come to the United States to receive heart surgery.Ed Rossi has been honored many times over the years, including Citizen of the Year 1989 by the Boy Scouts of America, Business Man of the Year from the Warren County Chamber of Commerce in 1997 and Entrepreneurial Success Award in 2005, and Honorary Chairperson for the Domestic Abuse and Rape Crisis Center of Warren County in 2006.NJ CAR wishes Ed Rossi success, as he represents New Jersey in the National competition.
