First “Hiring Our Heroes” Job Fair Is Huge Success

Mar 27, 2012

On March 9, 2012, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and The American Legion, in partnership with NJ CAR, the Department of Labor Veterans Employment & Training Services and local chambers held the first “Hiring Our Heroes” Job Fair in Iselin, NJ. The Job Fair, open to veterans, active duty military members, Guard and Reserve members and eligible spouses, was aimed at educating participants about the variety of positions available in the auto retailing industry. Sixty-five veterans attended the Job Fair and met with representatives from the Flemington, Legacy, Sansone and World Auto Groups, as well as a variety of government agencies that offer assistance to veterans, as well as other veteran organizations. Veterans were encouraged to forward their resumes to Rich Liebler, a former dealer principal and one of the primary organizers of the event. NJ CAR will create a veteran-specific Job Wanted page on the Coalition’s Website and will also keep a categorized binder and pass along resumes to any dealer seeking an individual in a particular area. While there are no details currently, there are plans to hold “Hiring Our Heroes” Job Fairs in other parts of the State at a later date.
