Governor Christie Requests Expedited Declaration For Tropical Storm Lee

Sep 14, 2011

On Thursday, September 8, Governor Chris Christie sent a letter to President Obama requesting an expedited Federal Declaration of Disaster for the entire State of New Jersey for damages resulting from Tropical Storm Lee, in order to ensure that State and local governments, as well as individually affected residents, receive federal assistance as quickly as possible. The tropical storm closely follows the severe and devastating impact that Hurricane Irene wrought on the State and resulted in a federal disaster declaration for all of New Jersey’s 21 counties. (At the time this edition of the NewsLetter is going to press, it is not known if President Obama will approve a Federal Declaration of Disaster for NewJersey, for the damages caused by Tropical Storm Lee).
