Governor Murphy Allows Online “Contactless” Dealership Sales

Mar 30, 2020

Earlier today, NJ CAR advised dealers that the Governor’s Office was considering our request for online sales with “contactless delivery” in the service lane. We were told, over the weekend, that the Administration was considering our request, but that approval would not be forthcoming until later this week.

However, at today’s Coronavirus press conference, Governor Murphy stated he had clarified the application of Executive Order 107 and announced that limited dealership sales could resume immediately. Governor Murphy said sales must be conducted online and remotely, with by-appointment, contactless delivery at the dealership service lane OR the customer’s home location.

NJ CAR is waiting for details from the Governor’s Office and will provide that information to dealers, once it is made available.
