Automotive Retailing Impacted By Mega-Storm

While much of New Jersey is returning to some semblance of normalcy, parts of the State, particularly along the coast, will be dealing with lingering issues for many weeks or months. The long-term impact of Hurricane Sandy is massive. Many dealerships and other businesses in shore and other communities have been hard hit by the storm. Others, who didn’t experience losses to facilities or inventory, were impacted by prolonged power outages.Hurricane Sandy came ashore on Monday, October 29, 2012, and left a huge swath of destruction in its wake throughout much of New Jersey. The coast and Northern parts of the State were most affected, but the impact of the mega-storm was felt throughout New Jersey, with power-outages hitting points all over the State.NJ CAR Motor Vehicle Operations regained power on Thursday, November 1, but the courier service was impacted as roads around New Jersey were flooded or blocked by trees, utility poles and downed wires. NJ CAR Headquarters did not have its power restored until Sunday, November 4. The Coalition was back to full capacity, with power, phone and Internet service on Monday, November 5.
