NJ CAR will be hosting an Advertising Regulations Update Workshop on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Hotel Woodbridge at MetroPark (120 Wood Avenue South, Iselin, NJ 08830). In March 2015, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and 32 law enforcement agencies across the country announced a massive crackdown on deceptive advertising, as well as fraud in auto sales, financing and leasing. Violations can result in long-term consent decrees and large fines. This workshop will provide a thorough review of the FTC’s recent dealers advertising enforcement actions and the specific types of advertising that have drawn the attention of the agency. All attendees will receive a copy of NADA’s “A Dealer Guide to Federal Advertising Requirements.” Brad will address federal regulatory issues dealing with auto dealer advertising. Cindy will cover the latest developments on the State level and discuss what dealership personnel can do to self-police their advertising.
