Marcy Maguire Named New Jersey’s 2018 TIME Dealer of the Year Award Winner

NJ CAR is proud to announce Marcy Hnath Maguire, CEO of Windsor Nissan, was selected as New Jersey’s 2018 TIME Dealer of the Year Award winner. This honor recognizes new vehicle dealers in each State for exceptional performance in the dealership, combined with distinguished community service.

Nominations for the TIME Dealer of the Year Award are submitted by NJ CAR members, and a winner is chosen by the NJ CAR Awards Nominating Committee, made up of the sitting NJ CAR Chairman and all past winners of this prestigious honor. A nominee must be a member of the National Automobile Dealer Association (NADA) and NJ CAR for at least five years. The individual should spend at least 60% of his or her time involved in dealership affairs. Marcy will represent New Jersey in the National competition, which takes place at the NADA Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 22-25, 2018.

Marcy was born and raised in Clifton, New Jersey. In her youth, she got her first taste of selling, what else, but Girl Scout cookies, earning recognition for the most sales in her scout troop. Marcy earned her Bachelor’s (BS) degree at Ohio State University, a Master of Arts (MA) degree atUniversity of Michigan, a Master of Science (MS) degree at Pace University and an Executive MBA from Harvard Business School.

Marcy’s first career was in education, where she earned her Superintendent’s and Principal licenses for New York City, working there for a decade. Marcy attended the NADA Dealers Academy, ultimately opening Saturn of Bordentown in 1991 and Saturn of Toms River in 1993. In 2000, she bought Windsor Nissan, building the brand image.

Having an insurance license, Marcy brought a Farmers Insurance Agency (Agency Plus) into the dealership. In 2015, she received the Blue Vase award, making her the first dealership agency in the country and in the 87-year history of Farmers Insurance to earn this prestigious award.

Marcy served on the NADA Board of Directors over a dozen years, first as Director of Women East and subsequently as the Director for New Jersey. During her tenure on the NADA Board, Marcy served on various committees including Finance, Public Affairs, Dealership Operations, ATAE, and NADCF. She was recently elected to represent Coalition members in the Southern Region (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer and Salem Counties) on the NJ CAR Board of Trustees. Additionally, Marcy has previously served on the University of Michigan Rackham Dean’s Advisory Board and currently serves on the United States Tennis Association Foundation Board.

There are several community and philanthropic efforts in which Marcy has been active. Local sponsorships include the volunteer fire and EMT squads. She was also involved in equipping an audio-visual room at the senior center and creating a financial literacy curriculum for the East Windsor Board of Education. Along with the Committee of 200, a business leadership organization, Marcy has spent much time mentoring women for career choices, entrepreneurial business opportunities, and supporting women to complete a PhD in business and return to teach in an MBA program.

Currently, Marcy’s international involvement is with Wazi. This company sells products made by women and at-risk youth living in Tanzania. Dollars earned by selling their products through Wazi provides individuals with an income and sustainable skill to grow successfully in their village.

Marcy’s business leadership has been recognized throughout her career including being named to Automotive News’ “100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry,” in 2005 and 2010; Manheim’s Automotive Women of the Year in 2005; Working Women Magazine’s Top 500 Women and attending three U.S. State Department Women Business Leaders Summits around the world.

Proudly, Marcy Maguire now works with her son, Michael who is the Executive Director for Windsor Nissan. Her husband, Bob Maguire, a former NJ CAR Chairman, was the first NADA Director from New Jersey to be elected NADA Chairman, having successfully served the auto retail industry.
