Melinda K. Holman Named New Jersey’s 2013 TIME Dealer of the Year Award Winner

NJ CAR is proud to announce that Melinda (Mindy) K. Holman, President and CEO of Holman Automotive, was recently selected as New Jersey’s 2013 TIME Dealer of the Year (TDOY) Award winner. The TDOY recognizes new vehicle dealers in the United States for exceptional performance in their dealerships, combined with distinguished community service. Nominations for the TIME Dealer of the Year Award are submitted by NJ CAR members, and a winner is chosen by the NJCAR Awards Nominating Committee, made up of the sitting Chairman and all past winners of this prestigious honor. A nominee must be a member of NADA and NJ CAR for at least five years. The individual should spend at least 60% of his or her time involved in dealership affairs. Ms.Holman will represent NewJersey in the National competition, which takes place at the NADA Convention in Orlando, Florida in February 2013. Melinda joined her family’s company as an intern in 1986, representing the third generation of the family-owned and operated business. By 1988, she was F&I Manager at Holman Lincoln Mercury, advancing to General Manager of Holman Hyundai in 1989 and General Manager of Saturn of Mount Laurel in 1991. In January 1994, she was named Vice Chairwoman of Holman Enterprises, a position she held until February of 2002, when she was named President and Vice Chairwoman of Holman Enterprises. Two years later, in May 2004, her position expanded to include the Chief Executive Officer role, the leadership position she has held for the past eight years. Holman Automotive is comprised of both consumer and commercial automotive businesses, including 22 automotive dealerships in southern NewJersey and southeast Florida. Melinda has earned a sterling reputation as a successful businessperson in New Jersey. In 2007, she received the Hall of Fame Award from New Jersey Biz Magazine for long-term commitment to business success in New Jersey. In 2010, she was honored with the National Association of Women Business Owners’ Shattered The Glass Ceiling Award, for her efforts advocating for women in business. Most recently, in 2011, she received the Alice Paul Institute Equality Award, recognizing her efforts toward advancing women’s equality in the United States. Melinda has also been honored many times over the last 14 years for her dedication to a variety of community organizations. She has received the Girl Scouts of Camden County Women of Outstanding Achievement Award, the Camden County American Red Cross’ Good Neighbor Award and the YMCA’s TWIN and John C. Gilmour Leadership Awards. She has also been recognized by the Arthritis Foundation of Southern New Jersey as a Humanitarian of the Year, and has also received the Rutgers Leadership Award. In 2011, she was honored with the American Heart Association Executive Award of Excellence and was the first-ever honoree at the 2012 Deborah Heart & Lung Center Gala for Outstanding Community Involvement. Most recently, Melinda received the Southern New Jersey Business People Partner in Philanthropy Award and also was honored by the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern NewJersey, with the John C. Haas Regional Champion Medal for her commitment to a positive community. Melinda is married with two teenage sons. NJ CAR wishes Melinda great success, as she represents New Jersey in the National competition.
