NJ CAR Partners With The Solar Center

Jan 28, 2008

The vast majority of Americans believe it is important for companies they deal with to implement environmentally-friendly practices. What if you, as a dealership committed to your community, could not only become an early adopter of valuable technology that would set you apart from other businesses, but could also save a tremendous amount of money in just a few years.

Well, NJ CAR has joined forces with The Solar Center (TSC) to help Coalition members achieve a green status while saving money on electrical consumption. TSC will review the dealership’s electrical useage and practices and will then provide solutions, such as lighting upgrades and solar electric systems, to help dealers reduce consumption and thereby reduce spending.

With federal tax credits, accelerated depreciation and solar renewable energy credits ALL on the table, solar electric systems are more affordable than ever. Dealers would have the choice of either investing in their own solar generation system or signing a Solar Power Purchase Agreement (SPPA), which allows a dealer to buy electricity at a fixed cost with no capital outlay. The system is owned by an investment group that can use the tax benefits, and is responsible for all maintenance over the life of the system.

The Solar Center will be hosting a presentation Thursday, February 21, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30p.m. at The Manor, 111 Prospect Avenue, West Orange, New Jersey to introduce the program. This location was selected because it has installed a solar electric system, which interested dealers can see in action. Please use the attached Fax Back Response Form to register your participation, or you may call Jim Appleton for more information, if you have questions.
