NJ CAR-Sponsored Students Win 3rd Place in National Technical Competition

Apr 06, 2018

NJ CAR sponsored two students/technicians in the National Automotive Technical Competition held at the Jacob Javits Center by the Greater New York Auto Dealer Association on April 2-4, 2018. This year’s NJ CAR team, designated “Team Toyota”, was comprised of Drew Bentley and Matt Marko, both seniors at Hunterdon County Polytech in Flemington, New Jersey.

Fred Beans Toyota in Flemington, NJ, supported the team with six weeks of nearly six hours per week technical training, to prepare them for the competition. The hard work paid off as the Coalition’s team finished in 3rd place, the best finish ever for an NJ CAR team.

Hunterdon County Polytech’s instructor Chris Scheuerman, and NJ CAR Field Service Coordinator Mark McAleer oversaw their preparation for the event and were both on-hand for the competition.

Through more than six hours of competition, encompassing all areas of vehicle repair, Drew and Matt were given the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to diagnose and repair against 27 other teams from across the country and Canada.

NJ CAR congratulates Drew, Matt, and Chris on a job well done and thanks Service Manager Robert Swiatek and the rest of the Fred Beans staff for their support!
