NJ CAR hosted a webinar with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Understanding The Federal Clean Energy Tax Credits. Richard Furlong, Jr., Senior Stakeholder Liaison at the IRS, discussed the federal clean energy credits for purchases of qualified electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles by eligible buyers. He also discussed the dealer registration process to issue required “time-of-sale” reports, as well as the additional registration required by qualified dealers for the advanced payment of credits.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has a variety of valuable resources and guidance for dealerships that sell vehicles eligible for federal clean energy credits. Any dealership that sells eligible vehicles MUST USE THE IRS ENERGY CREDITS ONLINE TOOL to register with the IRS and submit “time-of-sale” reports.
