Automotive News recently published its latest list of the top 125 U.S. dealership groups and NJCAR is proud to announce that seven New Jersey groups made the list. The groups are ranked by 2011 unit sales of new vehicles. The latest ranking of the top 125 dealership groups was bolstered by dealership acquisitions, and last year’s industry-wide 10 percent new-vehicle U.S. sales increase. According to the report, sales of cars and light trucks at 14 of the top 15 dealership groups grew last year. Six of the country’s seven public groups were among the top 15 groups in 2011. Also, the number of groups that sold 10,000 or more new units increased to 55 in 2011, from 47 in 2010. That is the highest number of groups to hit that milestone since 2007.
