Auto sales across the United States took a hit in February and are expected to be only slightly up from February 2013, due to the severe winter weather in many parts of the country. According to industry press, the U.S. auto industry had an average 88-day supply of new cars and trucks as of February 1, 2014 up from 64 days on January 1, 2014. By comparison, a 60-day supply is considered optimum. Kelly Blue Book, expects U.S. auto sales of about 1.2 million in February. That works out to a Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate of about 15.3 million, even with the February 2013 SAAR.
