William Kundert Named New Jersey’s 2014 TIME Dealer of the Year Award Winner

NJ CAR is proud to announce that William (Bill) Kundert, President of Kundert Volvo, was recently selected as NewJersey’s 2014 TIME Dealer of the Year (TDOY) Award winner. The TDOY recognizes new vehicle dealers in the United States for exceptional performance in their dealerships, combined with distinguished community service. Nominations for the TIME Dealer of the Year Award are submitted by NJCAR members, and a winner is chosen by the NJCAR Awards Nominating Committee, made up of the sitting Chairman and all past winners of this prestigious honor. A nominee must be a member of NADA and NJ CAR for at least five years. The individual should spend at least 60% of his or her time involved in dealership affairs. Mr. Kundert will represent NewJersey in the National competition, which takes place at the NADA Convention in NewOrleans, Louisiana in January 2014.Bill’s grandfather originally founded the dealership as a used vehicle facility. When his father joined the company, he acquired the Volvo franchise, making it one of the 25 oldest in the country. Bill began working at the dealership in 1970, fresh out of high school. While cutting his teeth at the dealership, he also earned a B.S. in Economics from Susquehanna University in 1974. Bill has been President of the dealership since 1986. The company expanded to also include a second Volvo dealership in Englewood.

Bill recently received the 50-Year Award from Volvo Cars of North America, one of only six dealers out of nearly 350 to receive such an honor. He has also held a variety of positions at NJCAR, including Chairman from 2011-2012.Bill supports numerous local charities and sports programs. He has sponsored a 24-hour bike marathon, held each Memorial Day in Hasbrouck Heights (for more than 15 years) to raise awareness for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program. The event attracts more than 200 participants each year. Bill also made arrangements to house all of the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department and Ambulance Corp. vehicles when their facility was destroyed by a fire.Bill is married with three children. NJ CAR wishes Bill great success, as he represents NewJersey in the National competition.
